Abstract

Kufri Himalini has benn recognized as a better cultivar of potato for cultivation in the north western and eastern hill regions. Quality and quantity seed production of potato has always been challenging task and tissue culture is one of the solutions to the problem. In vitro response of various genotypes differs and needs standardization for efficient multiplication. In the present study influence of silver nitrate was observed on shoot multiplication and quality of microplants. Highest shoot multiplication (14.07±0.50) and number of leaves per shoot (13.40±0.59) was observed at a concentration of 6 mgl−1 of silver nitrate added in MS medium in combination with GA3 (0.25 mgl−1) and CaP (2 mgl−1)
