Abstract

Fifteen genotypes of garden pea were evaluated for magnitude of Genetic variability, heritability and genetic advance for ten yield contributing traits. The study indicated existence of considerable amount of genetic variability for all the characters including seed yield per plant indicating wide spectrum of variation among the genotypes. The exhibited higher values of genotypic and phenotypic coefficient of variation were observed for plant height, number of pods per plants, pod length, number of seed per pod, 100-seed weight and seed yield per plant, High estimates of heritability, genotypic coefficient of variation and genetic advance were observed for plant height, productive branches per plant, number of pods per plant, pod length, number of seed per pod, 100 seed weight and seed yield per plant showing the influence of additive gene action on these traits hence, may be useful for effective selection.
