Abstract

Six chemicals namely; Chlorantraniliprole 20 S.C. @ 0.05 Kg a.i./ha), Chlothianidine 50% WDG @ 0.05 Kg a.i./ha), Imidacloprid 200 S.L. @ 0.02 Kg a.i./ha), Azadiractin 0.15 E.C. 0.03% a.i./ha) and Cartap Hydrochloride 50 W.S.P. 0.75 Kg a.i./ha) along with Chlorpyriphos 20 E.C. @ 1 Kg a.i./ha) as check insecticide were evaluated. Chlorantraniliprole @ 0.04% was most effective as it exhibited least dead hearts of 2.85% with the decrease of 83.43% in the incidence over control followed by Chlorpyriphos @ 0.5% with 4.69% dead hearts and it was statistically at par with Chlothianidine @ 0.25% and 0.50%. Higher dead hearts of 7.21% were observed with Imidacloprid @ 0.02 per cent whereas Azadiractin @ 0.5 per cent was found to be least effective insecticide exhibiting 10.33% dead hearts. Dead hearts in the untreated control were 17.21%. Hence, it can be suggested that Chlorantraniliprole @ 0–04% could be the most preferred option whereas Chlorpyriphos 20 EC 0.5%, Chlothianidine @ 0.5% and Imidacloprid @ 0.02% can be the next choice for ESB control.
