This paper deals with a brief description of Gloriosa simplex L., a new distributional record for India, recorded from Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose Indian Botanic Garden, Howrah. A brief taxonomic note along with phenology, ecology and distribution are also dealt with in this communication to facilitate easy identification.
