Abstract

The only species of Bonamia recorded from India, B. semidigyna is reported from the North East of India. The description of the species is accompanied by photographs to facilitate identification, and a threat assessment is also provided. Since, B. semidigyna has been variously listed as threatened in many countries; new population and distribution records would play a crucial role in conservation studies, so its ecology and conservation status in the Eastern Himalaya are thoroughly assessed, including the main threats to its survival.
